Knitting Workshop: Socks!!
If you have been intimidated by knitting with small yarn, stranded colorwork, or turning a heel on a sock, then boy do I have the workshop for you
In this workshop we are going to use fingering weight yarn to knit up a lovely pair of colorful, happy socks. You may bring your own supplies or purchase them here at Nomadic Needles with a 15% discount. See below for supply list.
Week 1: Go over the pattern, practice casting on with a gauge swatch.
Week 2: Officially cast on our socks
Week 3: Begin colorwork pattern
Week 4: Turn the heel
Week 5: Closing up the toe
***IMPORTANT NOTE: We will be discussing and working through each step of the socks together, but you will have to knit during the time between classes to stay on track. We will likely only get through one sock, but you'll be ready to embark on your second sock by the time we end our workshop.
Supplies you'll need:
- The pattern we will be using can be found on Ravelry at this link: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/heart-shaped-socks-set It's about $9 and you'll get a total of 3 patterns in the pack. We will be using the third called, 'The Good Friend Socks'. I love supporting other small businesses and I know you'll love Stone Knits' patterns as much as I do.
- About 255 yards of the main color of your choice and about 115 yards of the contrasting color.
- Size 1 needles. You can choose to use double pointed needles, shortie style circular needles, or regular circular needles with a long cable (at least 30 inches). If you have questions about these, please come in prior to class for clarification.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers will be helpful, but not 100% necessary
**Please note that this workshop is 5 sessions, spread out over several weeks. Before signing up, please ensure you are able to make all sessions as there will not be a make up date. You will need to schedule a private lesson to make up missed days. Cancellations made a week or more in advance are eligible for a refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to first class date will NOT be eligible for a refund.
